Watch this mechanic explain how to preserve your turbo engine
Auto mechanics have quite a bit to offer the car world. They repair our cars when we need it, but they often have sage advice. As most people know, many of the best new cars come with turbo engines. However, cars with turbochargers can require special maintenance, and some drivers doubt their reliability. Luckily, this mechanic perfectly explained how to ensure the turbocharger lasts on three of the best luxury cars. However, his advice is probably good for all turbocharged cars.
Many of the best new luxury cars have turbo engines and auto mechanics often have good advice for how to maintain them
As many auto mechanics will tell you, turbo engines add quite a bit to the driving experience. They’re great because they allow automakers to use smaller and more efficient engines without sacrificing performance. According to Daily Dot, one mechanic, or car expert as he puts it, recently gave three tips for ensuring the turbo lasts in three of the best luxury cars from the most popular automakers.
The first tip is one that most auto mechanics will agree with. He says that one of the keys to long-lasting turbo engines is to frequently change the oil. Specifically, he says that every 3,700 to 5,000 miles will do the trick for luxury cars such as BMW, Audi, and Mercedes.
Auto mechanics don’t often say this, but he tells viewers to properly cool down their cars after harsh driving. He says that before parking the car, drivers should do about three minutes of moderate driving in order to protect turbo engines. The RPMs should be low during the moderate driving session.
The last tip he gives is not to stab your throttle because it needs time to “school up.” As mentioned, he gives this advice specifically for some of the best luxury cars, but it should also work for other models.
