The Chevy Camaro is one of the best muscle cars of all time. It stands with both the Ford Mustang and the Corvette in this regard. However, the iconic car will no longer be in production after this model year. Additionally, Chevy Camaro sales are in the toilet, which means the vehicle is going out in a way that’s unfitting of its legacy.

These Chevy Camaro sales aren’t fitting for one of the best muscle cars

It was previously announced that the Chevy Camaro, one of the best muscle cars, would be discontinued after the 2024 model year. Often, beloved cars see an increase in sales for their final year, but this has not been the case for the Chevy Camaro. According to Good Car Bad Car, it has only sold about 5,307 units in 2024. However, the car sold about 31,029 units in 2023, which means it will be significantly less popular this year.

Some may assume that demand for even the best muscle cars is down. While this is true to an extent, it’s not the whole picture. For example, the Ford Mustang is still prevalent. So far this year, the Mustang has moved over 30,000 units. Regarding 2023, the Pony Car had about 20,000 more sales than the Chevy Camaro. Notably, the Camaro hasn’t sold more than 50,000 units since 2018, which the Mustang has done each year except 2022.

It’s also important to note that despite being one of the best muscle cars, the Chevy Camaro is generally cheaper than its more popular rivals. The 2024 Camaro has an MSRP of $30,900. However, the 2024 Ford Mustang costs $31,920. Of course, this isn’t a drastic difference, but it shows how much more interest the Mustang has than the Camaro.

However, it’s also true that most cars aren’t meant to be in production forever. As noted, sales for the Camaro have been low for a while, which is part of the reason the automaker is discontinuing it. Perhaps they’ll bring it back down the line and find ways to make it more exciting. Still, seeing one of the best muscle cars go out with such low sales is sad.
