Volvo has a solid way of keeping its older cars up to date and other automakers should follow suit
One problem with buying even the best new cars is that they become outdated. This can happen in several ways, but it often occurs in terms of interior technology. However, Volvo has a solution for the aging problem of some of its recent cars. The automotive giant is introducing a new infotainment system interface and isn’t leaving out some of its slightly older models.
Even the best new cars show their age
Volvo makes some of the best new cars on the market. Recently, the automaker unveiled the Volvo EX90, one of the newest all-electric cars. It has a new infotainment system powered by Google, which is more intuitive than ever.
The great thing about the new system is that the company plans to issue it to millions of its older vehicles. According to The Drive, vehicles as old as 2020 will get the new update. This is a great way to keep them in line with many of the best new cars on the market. So, how will people get the new system? Volvo will send a free over-the-air update to people with vehicles that meet the guidelines.
The following vehicles from 2020 and beyond will get the same update as the best new cars from Volvo. Notably, they must have originally come with a Google or Android operating system:
- Volvo C40
- Volvo XC40
- Volvo EX40
- Volvo EC40
- Volvo S60
- Volvo V60
- Volvo V60 Cross Country
- Volvo XC60
- Volvo S90
- Volvo V90
- Volvo V90 Cross Country
- Volvo XC90
The automaker calls this round of updates “one of the most comprehensive infotainment updates by any car maker to date.” This means about 2.5 million drivers will have the new system.
