Why Buyers Regret the 2024 Nissan Sentra
The 2024 Nissan Sentra can be one of the best small cars for people looking for something affordable. However, several people also regret buying it due to various issues. Some stem from the continuously variable transmission, but others are simply downsides to the vehicle. Unfortunately, many people have similar concerns with the 2023 Nissan Sentra and other models. This vehicle falls behind rivals like the 2024 Honda Civic.
The continuously variable transmission in the 2024 Nissan Sentra is problematic
Despite being one of the best small cars, the 2024 Nissan Sentra has a few notable issues. According to some, the transmission is the most significant of the problems. For starters, the automaker recently recalled 9,645 units of the car in the US and almost 1,000 in Canada. This recall happened due to instances of the drive shaft separating from the transmission.
In general, the continuously variable transmission in the 2024 Nissan Sentra requires more preventative maintenance. It’s common for automakers to suggest changing the CVT fluid every 30,000-60,000 miles. However, owners with better experiences with the Nissan Sentra say they do it on the earlier end of that range of miles. Still, older models of the car have a history of premature transmission failure.
People don’t love the performance it delivers
The 2024 Nissan Sentra is among the best small cars in a few ways. However, this isn’t the case when it comes to performance. According to Kelley Blue Book, this is the aspect of the vehicle that owners ranked the lowest as it has a 3.7 out of 5. The Sentra uses a 2.0-liter inline-four that makes 149 horsepower and it has a torque of 146 lb-ft.
Regarding speed, it takes the Nissan Sentra about 8.4 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 60 miles per hour. Many feel that the Nissan is a bit underpowered compared to some of its rivals. Like other vehicles with a continuously variable transmission, the Nissan Sentra is a bit loud. Those wanting something faster at a similar price should consider the Honda Civic instead of the Nissan Sentra.
The 2024 Nissan Sentra has a few drawbacks. However, it’s still a popular vehicle partly because it’s affordable enough for people who need compact cars. Not only that, but Nissan does a solid job of making it an attractive vehicle regarding features and its overall look. Still, it may not be the most reliable of the small cars on the market nor the most fun to drive.
