Byron, Larson Early Odds Favorites to Win 2024 NASCAR Cup Championship
The 2024 NASCAR Cup Series season begins in earnest in the coming weeks, and two Hendrick Motorsports drivers are the early betting odds favorites to capture the championship come November.
William Byron and Kyle Larson lead the field of drivers as the NASCAR championship odds favorites to win the 2024 title, according to DraftKings Sportsbook. NASCAR and DraftKings recently signed a written designation agreement that would allow for DraftKings to operate in North Carolina.
Byron and Larson lead the early odds at +550. Byron and Larson combined for 10 wins in 2023, Byron with six, leading all drivers, with Larson capturing four. Both Hendrick drivers earned berths in the Championship 4 last season but finished behind champion Ryan Blaney.
Blaney’s odds are +750, placing him third behind Byron and Larson.
Other notable championship contenders include Denny Hamlin (+800), Chase Elliott (+850) and Christopher Bell (+900). Martin Truex Jr., Kyle Busch, Joey Logano and Tyler Reddick round out the top 10 for best odds to win the 2024 title a month before the season gets underway Feb. 18 for the Daytona 500.
Caesar’s Sportsbook also lists Larson and Byron as the favorites at +550 but hold slightly better odds for Blaney at +700. Caesar’s also puts Bell ahead of Elliott in its most recent odds.
To note, Blaney entered the 2023 season at +925 odds to win the title, according to Sportsbettingdime.com. Elliott was the leading favorite, but the 2020 champion’s season was fraught with issues preventing him from making a run at the title. Elliott missed six races recovering from a broken leg he suffered while snowboarding. He was then suspended for a race after NASCAR determined he intentionally wrecked Denny Hamlin in the Coca-Cola 600. The Dawsonville, Georgia, driver was granted a waiver by NASCAR to potentially earn a playoff berth, but he went winless during the season and couldn’t muster enough points to earn a title shot.
Blaney isn’t the leading contender to repeat as Cup champion, but the 30-year-old Team Penske driver is the early favorite to win the 2024 Daytona 500, according to DraftKings. Blaney has yet to add a Daytona 500 win to his resume. He placed second in the 2020 race, fourth in 2022 and eighth last season. Blaney has captured a win in the duels and won the fall Daytona race in 2021.
Blaney’s +900 odds to win the 2024 Daytona 500 put him ahead of Denny Hamlin, Chris Buescher and Chase Elliott, all listed at +1100.
