Arizona residents are upset over a new law that could stop home car projects
Many people with yards decide to engage in various car projects at home. Sometimes, this includes doing car modifications in the yard or garage. However, a new law in an Arizona town could stop this. Naturally, many people who live there are upset and doing all they can to stop this level of control over what cars they can have in their yards.
These residents may not be able to do car modifications at home anymore
People who perform car modifications at home in Gilbert, Arizona, may have less freedom moving forward. According to The Sun, the town council has plans to change its laws surrounding what vehicles people can have in their yards. Currently, homeowners can keep as many inoperable cars in their yards as they want. This is the case if an opaque fence covers the vehicles from sight.
However, the new law, if put into place, says this is no longer the case, making home car modifications nearly impossible. If the council takes up this new language for the town code, homeowners can only have one inoperable vehicle in their yard. Additionally, the new law would make it so that the inoperable cars can only be in the back or side of the house. In other words, they have to be out of sight regardless of fencing.
The council considers any vehicle inoperable if it’s not roadworthy. Cars that don’t start also fall into this category. The new law also says people who live at the address must have registration for the vehicles. Any vehicle that violates the new law could be removed from the home.
