Faulty seatbelts prompt investigation into 300,000 Hyundai SUVs
Hyundai makes some of the best new cars and has done a great job improving its image. However, no automaker is a stranger to the idea of a car recall. Now, Hyundai has a potential new one on its hands. This time, the potential recall would impact faulty seat belts in certain models of the popular Hyundai Palisade SUV. This comes after issues with the new Hyundai Santa Fe.
There could be a car recall for the Hyundai Palisade
Like all automakers, Hyundai has had a problem with car recalls this year. Of course, some are significant, whereas others are not. According to Yahoo, the latest is that US regulators are opening a preliminary investigation into 332,288 Hyundai Palisade models from between 2020 and 2023 due to faulty seat belts. Regarding the seatbelts, there are reports of them coming unlatched without warning. This investigation would be one of the first steps to lead to a car recall for the SUV.
Naturally, the seat belts coming undone without warning is a massive safety concern. Drivers could become injured due to the lack of safety from the seatbelts without even a car wreck. Of course, this is only an investigation, but if these Hyundai Palisade models are found to have this issue, it would make them unsafe to drive.
If there seems to be an issue, the situation would move from being a preliminary investigation to an engineering analysis. From there, the NHTSA could force a car recall for the impacted Hyundai SUVs. Of course, the Hyundai Palisade has a few recalls, including airbag issues, engine cooling systems, and powertrain problems. Additionally, the automaker recently issued a stop sell for the new Hyundai Santa Fe, which many call one of the best new cars.
