Ford to potentially recall 36,000 vehicles over a rearview camera issue
Ford is no stranger to a car recall. Of course, this is the same for all automakers, as there are practically no perfect vehicles. Now, the blue oval may have a new one on its hands as the NHTSA has started an investigation into over 36,000 vehicles that may have faulty rear backup cameras. Of course, this investigation could also lead to nothing. However, if there is a recall, auto mechanics at dealerships will repair the issue.
Ford might have a new car recall on its hands depending on how the investigation goes
Issuing a car recall is one of the best ways for automakers to address issues in vehicles that have already been released to the public. Luckily, there is a process to determine if there’s a big enough issue to warrant this measure. Now, according to Reuters, the NHTSA has launched a probe into 35,950 Ford Flex SUVs. The problem is that the rear camera is suspected to be faulty.
If it happens, this car recall will impact Ford Flex models from 2019. So far, the NHTSA has received 23 reports about the issue with the touch screens. Specifically, the reports say that the images on the screens go blank, become distorted, or inverted. Of course, this is a massive safety issue as people rely on these cameras to reverse their SUVs.
As mentioned, this is only a probe from the NHTSA. Currently, it requires no action from people who own a 2019 Ford Flex. However, people who notice this issue should submit a report to the organization. Still, if there is a car recall, auto mechanics at Ford dealers will issue a fix at no cost.
