If we’re being honest, no one wants to deal with car recalls. They’re expensive for automakers and can also be a nightmare for vehicle owners. However, what happens when there is an active recall for your car, but the automaker won’t honor it? This recently happened with one Canada-based person, and now she’s a part of a class action suit.

Automakers typically honor car recalls, but not this time… so the owner is pursuing a class action suit

Though unfortunate, car recalls are a way to keep people safe on the road. According to Daily Dot, (@awko_taco13) recently took to TikTok to share her experience as a Hyundai owner with a recent recall. Specifically, she owns a 2017 Hyundai Tucson and began to experience engine issues with her SUV.

At some point, the TikTok user noticed that among the many Hyundai car recalls was one for her specific issue. Apparently, these vehicles have rod bearings that wear out before they’re supposed to. The problem worsened when she went to her Hyundai dealership and was told the automaker wouldn’t authorize the repair. She says she was told it was because she was over mileage. For context, when recording her video, she said that the 2017 Hyundai Tucson had 155,000 miles on it.

Warning: The video does contain harsh language.

She then said she contacted legal representation, who told her Hyundai isn’t supposed to deny repairs for car recalls. Now, her latest course of action has been to join a class action suit with others who own impacted vehicles that Hyundai allegedly refuses to fix. Research says that automakers can’t refuse to issue repairs but that specific dealerships can due to liability issues or problems with the vehicle’s title.
