Deciding to trade in your car can be a great option that allows you to get into something new. However, there are many situations where things can go wrong. In particular, this happens when dealerships go back on their word and offer something different than they initially did. This happened to one lady after she had paid the downpayment, and the dealer had the keys to her older Chevy Tahoe.

This car trade-in went horribly wrong

When car owners decide to do a trade-in, they assume the terms the dealership gives them will stand. However, this is not what happened when a Florida woman tried to go from an older Chevy Tahoe to a Kia EV9. According to Daily Dot, Ariel B (@the_arielb) took to TikTok from the restroom of an Orlando dealership to tell her story of how things went downhill.

According to her, the dealership had agreed to specific terms for her car trade-in during a previous visit. Things changed, but the person she was working with still had the keys to her older Chevy Tahoe. Apparently, they would not return the keys to her after the deal had gone south. She says she wanted to cancel the agreement after it wasn’t what she agreed to.

Making matters worse, the lady trying to trade in her car had already paid a $5,000 downpayment toward the 2024 Kia EV9, which was $94,000. Based on her video, it seems the monthly payment amount was the issue because they promised it before checking with the financing department.

She later posted a follow-up video with an employee from the dealership where they said they would honor the original deal. However, there had been too much drama by then, and she left with her older Chevy Tahoe instead of the 2024 Kia EV9 after they eventually returned the keys.
