Toyota Agrees to Settlement Over HVAC Issues With the Camry
Toyota makes some of the best new cars when it comes to reliability and innovation. However, no automaker is perfect, and Toyota has now agreed to a settlement for a class action suit. The lawsuit benefits certain Toyota Camry owners who experienced issues with their Toyota Camry, including the 2015 model.
Here’s what’s going on.
Toyota is settling a class action suit over faulty HVAC issues
The car AC system is one of the most essential features of a vehicle, especially in the summer and winter months. According to Top Class Actions, Toyota has reached a settlement in a suit over issues impacting the system in the Toyota Camry, which includes the 2015 model and begins with the 2012.
In particular, the class action suit will reimburse owners and lessees who have the 2015 Camry and other models. The suit says that some models have HVAC units that cause moisture to build up over time. As one can assume, this moisture can lead to mold, bad smells, and an overall less-than-stellar experience with what was one of the best new cars at the time.
So, what does the settlement for the class action suit include? Drivers who are a part of the suit are due an “unspecified” amount in return for funds spent addressing the issue before May 31, 2024. They can claim $100 for any expenses associated with addressing the problem after that date. In particular, they are being paid back for the cost of installing a charcoal filter and flushing the vehicle’s evaporators.
Naturally, Toyota hasn’t admitted to any wrongdoing regarding the HVAC class action suit. Owners have until September 30 to either object or exclude themselves. The final hearing for the settlement is scheduled for October 30 of this year.
