Ram Agrees to Pay $6 Million in Defective Engine Lawsuit
Ram makes some of the top trucks on the market. However, some owners say that these vehicles aren’t the most reliable. This is upheld by the fact that Ram has just agreed to a hefty class action suit to pay off customers with defective engines. The suit includes vehicles like the 2015 Ram 2500. Cummins, the company behind the engines, is also included.
Ram agrees to pay millions in a recent class action suit
According to Top Class Actions, Ram and Cummins have agreed to pay $6 million to customers with certain Ram truck models. The class action suit came about over claims that some of the company’s diesel engines had notable defects. This suit includes the Ram 2500 and 3500 models made between 2013 and 2015. However, only customers who bought their trucks between November 26, 2014, and July 13, 2016, can claim a payout.
It’s also important to note that only customers from 16 states are included in the suit. Regarding the defective diesel engines, the customers say that the selective catalytic reduction system caused emissions issues.
So, how much will impacted customers get from the class action suit? If the settlement is approved, each impacted buyer will receive a payout of $100.40. Of course, drivers with more than one Ram 2500 or 3500 made between 2013 and 2015 will be entitled to larger payments. Despite the settlement, neither Ram nor Cummins have admitted wrongdoing. The final hearing is scheduled for October the 10th of this year. Buyers have until August 21st to either object or exclude themselves.
