No one likes being sued. This also extends to automakers, as class action suits can be expensive and cause buyers to lose trust. Now, Subaru has a new class action suit on its hands over faulty mirrors. While this may sound trivial, this could be a huge safety risk for people with some of the automaker’s newest vehicles.

Subaru has a new class action suit on its hands

People know Subaru as one of the most reliable automakers. Many of its most popular vehicles last for far longer than their competitors. However, according to ClassAction.org, the beloved automaker is facing a new class action suit. The 34-page lawsuit says some notable issues with the driver-side mirrors on the 2024 Subaru Ascent and Crosstrek SUVs exist.

Specifically, the class action suit says that the mirrors shake and vibrate while people are driving the popular vehicles. Additionally, the suit says these issues start “immediately” after people drive off the lot and result from “deficient materials.” It goes on to say that the mirrors in the two Subaru SUVs are not “sufficiently strong and rigid for normal driving conditions.”

Naturally, this is a massive safety risk for people with either the 2024 Subaru Ascent or the Crosstrek. The class action suit goes on to outline the risk by saying, “A vibrating mirror also fails to provide a clear image of the blind spots, which in turn poses danger to class members and other drivers when merging into traffic or changing lanes, as the driver may miss seeing vehicles or cyclists in adjacent lanes.”

Additionally, people behind the suit belive the issues mean the two vehicles aren’t compliant with the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 111, which concerns visibility for the driver. The claim also says that Subaru is aware of the issue and did not inform buyers. Regarding the goals of the suit, the people behind it want Subaru to issue a recall, cover legal costs, and repair the mirrors for the owners included.
