Toyota has had an interesting year so far, with recent revelations that the automaker faked crash test results. Now, a group of Toyota Mirai owners have filed a class action suit against the legendary automaker. Of course, the Mirai is the hydrogen-powered car from Toyota. According to the claim, the owners who have come together to file the class action lawsuit feel misled by Toyota.

Here’s why Mirai owners filed the class action suit against Toyota

According to CarScoops, a group of Toyota Mirai owners have come together to file a class action suit against the automaker. As far as their claims go, the owners and lessees feel that the marketing team at Toyota misled them about the realities of owning a hydrogen-powered car. Of course, there has been much talk about the state of things for people who venture into this almost uncharted territory.

The people who filed the class action suit have a laundry list of complaints about everyday life with the Toyota Mirai. They include a lack of viable refueling stations, the cost of hydrogen itself, and a lower range than the automaker promised. According to the lawsuit, these failures in the Toyota Mirai make the vehicle a nightmare to use, especially as a daily driver.

The owners who filed the class action suit go on to say that Toyota made the Mirai sound like it would be as simple as a gas-powered car when it comes to refueling. However, they are frustrated as there are some cases where they can’t refuel their Toyota hydrogen car for multiple days in a row. Once owners find fuel, it takes a long time as the pumps sometimes freeze.

The owners and lessees are seeking unspecified damages from Toyota and have accused the automaker of unlawful practices.
