Still, some people don’t know this, as one woman recently shared that she had been using the wrong gas in her Mercedes G Wagon.

There are many things to consider when buying any new vehicle. For many, the cost of gas comes into play as many people want cheap prices. However, many people may not know that some vehicles require premium fuel. According to Daily Dot, Alexis Nido-Russo (@locaeclectic) took to TikTok to share how she learned she’d been using the wrong gas in her Mercedes G Wagen.

According to her, she was traveling with a family member when they offered to pump her gas. The person saw the 91 octane requirement on the gas door and asked which she wanted to use due to the difference in the cost of gas. The lady then said “use the middle one.” The Mercedes G Wagen then admitted that she had no idea what the numbers on the gas station pumps meant. In the end, she says she has learned to use the proper gas despite not knowing the difference.

Some people may decide on a lower grade due to the cost of gas. However, this can be a horrible idea as it can negatively impact your vehicle. For starters, even the best luxury cars won’t provide optimal performance with the wrong gas. You could also experience engine knock due to the wrong fuel. In the worst cases, this could also cause damage. Reading vehicle manuals is important for this reason.
