Some of the best cars on the road are used. This means dealerships that specialize in previously owned vehicles are in high demand. However, there can be some shady ones, so buyers have to be careful. This warning is especially apparent when a used car lot recently sold a lady’s 2005 Ford Taurus after she brought it in for repairs. Now, she’s taking action.

A Tennessee used car lot recently sold a lady’s 2005 Ford Taurus

According to 6 ABC WATE, Lindsey Thompson, out of Knoxville, Tennessee, bought a 2005 Ford Taurus in June of last year. She financed the used Ford Taurus for $5,900, and the dealership sold it as is. However, Lindsey thought it best to add a 12-month or 12,000-mile warranty for an additional $995 as a bit of added protection.

However, the problems started in November of 2023, when it seemed the transmission had failed. Because of this, the 2005 Ford Taurus owner was thankful she had added the warranty and had the used car towed to the dealership for repairs. Unfortunately, she didn’t hear from them for about ten days and decided to pay them a visit. It was then that she learned they had sold her car.

According to Lindsey, the dealership said she had put too many miles on the 2005 Ford Taurus for the warranty to cover repairs. She does admit to the previously mentioned news outlet that she drove it over 12,000 miles. Still, that doesn’t explain them selling it and literally handing her the license plate when she went to inquire about it.

Making matters worse, she received a letter stating that she had failed to maintain insurance on the car. This was mere weeks ago, meaning the dealership had sold the car as it was still registered to Lindsey. Now, she has enlisted the help of a legal aid attorney. She invested almost $2,700 into the Taurus over five months.
