Denny Hamlin’s New Fiancé Pokes Fun at His Career in Announcing Couple’s Engagement
After more than a decade of a seemingly on-and-off relationship, NASCAR star Denny Hamlin and longtime partner Jordan Fish are engaged. Fish shared the announcement the couple is tying the knot on her Instagram page on Jan. 1. She took the opportunity to have a little fun at her new fiance’s expense.
Fish’s post said, “Rings: DH 0, Jordan 1,” alluding to Hamlin’s long a successful NASCAR Cup career in which he is still chasing his first championship.
Hamlin has amassed 51 career Cup wins and 222 top-five finishes over the last 19 seasons. He is included in NASCAR’s “75 Greatest” driver’s list. He is a perennial champion contender, having placed in the top-10 of the final points standings all but three years since 2006. His accomplishments include three Daytona 500 victories, the most recent coming in 2020. However, a Cup championship has continued to elude the driver of the Joe Gibbs Racing No. 11 Toyota and part-owner of 23XI Racing.
Now engaged, Hamlin will enter the 2024 season, his 20th in Cup competition, looking to even the “ring” score with his new fiancé again driving the No. 11 for JGR. The couple, which have reportedly been dating as far back as 2007, have two daughters together.
Hamlin and Fish’s engagement cements what has sometimes been a publicly strained relationship. In 2021, Fish tweeted she and their children “deserve better,” suggesting her thoughts Hamlin “cannot” change. “Have a great life, Denny Hamlin,” she wrote before later deleting the tweets.
However, it appears the couple has made amends again. Along with the announcement, Fish shared photos of her and Hamlin kissing near the waters of Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, along with photos of the couple and their two children. Earlier this year, Fish shared photos of her and Hamlin dressed like Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift for Halloween.
Several notable NASCAR and racing personalities shared their congratulations. Danica Patrick commented, “So happy for this!”
Samantha Busch, wife of Kyle Busch, commentator/reporter Jamie Little, IndyCar start Marco Andretti and others also shared their congratulations to the newly engaged couple.
The 43-year-old driver will again be chasing his first Cup championship this year. Hamlin was eliminated from the NASCAR Playoffs in the Round of 8 for the second straight time in 2023. In 2022, Hamlin was famously eliminated from the playoffs by Ross Chastain’s “Hail Melon” move on the final lap of the Martinsville Round of 8 race.
Hamlin earned three wins in 2023 — at Kansas, Pocono and the fall Bristol race — with four poles and 14 top-five finishes.
