Almost 300 cars had to be towed after a Texas gas station mix-up
Using gas station pumps isn’t usually a stressful scenario as most people only have cheap prices on their mind. However, there is quite a bit to consider because there have been several recent mix-ups with diesel and regular gas. This happened recently in Texas when the people delivering the fuel mixed up the grades, and now several drivers report engine problems.
There was a mix-up with diesel and regular gas at these pumps at this station
As most drivers know, some cars require regular gas while others take other types, such as diesel. Naturally, mistaking the two can have dire consequences that make the cheap gas prices we’re currently experiencing feel unimportant. According to KETK News, drivers in Longview, Texas, recently experienced this due to no fault of their own.
This happened over Labor Day weekend, and drivers believe the company delivering the fuel confused the two types. One local person said, “Well, the people who have already had their vehicles diagnosed, the ones that were gas, their tanks are full of diesel, and the ones that were diesel, their tanks are filled with gas.”
After filling up their tanks, there were numerous reports of stalled cars and other engine-related issues. Naturally, this has left many people who bought regular or diesel without transportation. Notably, this Murphy USA gas station was open after the incident. However, there are reports that employees blocked off the pumps. According to reports, a local tow truck company has already towed over 200 impacted vehicles.
One local person remarked, “The tow truck driver that picked up a truck right here earlier today had told me his numbers were 268. We have to get it towed to a shop, get it inspected by a certified mechanic, and then we have to send this form back to them.”
Many of the people who got regular fuel when trying to buy diesel or vice versa have already reached out to Murphy USA. For more reading, check out a recent article about another gas station mix-up.
