We recently shared the story of a 2024 Toyota GR Corolla owner who found a GPS tracking device in his car. Now, there’s an update, as he has hired legal representation. Though there has been a delay in the legal process moving forward, it seems the owner of the car will have the upper hand as things progress against the dealership.

Here’s where things stand now.

This owner might have a case over the GPS tracking device in his 2024 Toyota GR Corolla

As reported, Anthony Do recently purchased a 2024 Toyota GR Corolla. However, after leaving the car parked for a few weeks, he discovered that the battery in his brand-new car had died. Of course, batteries die and sometimes need to be jumped off, but it doesn’t often happen in brand-new vehicles. After hearing of the possibility of there being a GPS tracking device present and causing the power drain, he decided to check.

Now, there’s a bit of an update. According to CarScoops, the dealership that sold him the car with the GPS tracking device tried to deny installing it. However, they admitted that it was their doing later. The Toyota dealer tried to tell Anthony they installed it in case someone stole the car from their lot. The problem is that the 2024 Toyota GR Corolla owner was on site when the vehicle was delivered.

So, where does the case stand legally? Anthony is moving forward with legal action. Luckily, his attorney believes he has a good chance of winning over the GPS tracking device. His representation says he is halfway through reading the purchase agreement. In it, he says, there is no mention of a GPS device. Now, they are working to prove that the dealership installed the device illegally.

It’s unclear what Anthony wants out of the lawsuit. However, dealerships should be upfront about people’s security.
