The Taos starts with a 1.5-liter turbo four-cylinder that makes 158 hp. Front-wheel drive is standard, but VW does offer all-wheel drive as an option. The standard configuration gets an estimated 28 mpg in the city and 36 mpg on highways, for 32 mpg combined.

The 2023 Volkswagen Tiguan

The next SUV in Volkswagen’s lineup is the Tiguan, and it starts at about $27,000. Despite being one of the cheapest SUVs in the German auto giant’s lineup, the Tiguan comes with three rows of seats as standard, and this allows it to carry up to seven passengers. When drivers fold the seats down, it also has a max cargo capacity of 73.4 cu. ft.

There’s currently only one engine option on the Tiguan, and it’s a 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder that gets 184 hp. All-wheel drive is offered, and the VW SUV gets an estimated 24 mpg in the city and 31 mpg on highways, for 28 mpg combined.

The 2023 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport

The Atlas Cross Sport starts at about $34,500, and it’s supposed to be a smaller version of the Atlas. The Atlas Cross Sport seats five, and it has two engine options. The standard 2.0-liter turbo four gets 235 hp, and the optional 3.6-liter V6 gets 276 hp.

Despite being a smaller SUV than the Atlas, the Atlas Cross Sport has a good amount of cargo capacity. With its seats folded down, it gets 77.8 cu. ft. of space. All-wheel drive is offered, but the standard engine isn’t very efficient. It only gets 21 mpg in the city and 25 mpg on highways, for 23 mpg combined.

The 2023 Volkswagen Atlas

The Atlas is Volkswagen’s largest SUV. It starts at about $35,000, and that makes it only $500 more expensive than the Atlas Cross Sport. The two German SUVs are similar in many ways. For example, the Atlas has the same engines as the Atlas Cross Sport does, and the two SUVs even have the same fuel economies. However, there are a few significant differences between the two.

The big difference between them is capacity. The Atlas has three rows of seats as standard, and this allows it to carry up to seven people. With the seats folded down, the Atlas has a max cargo capacity of 96.8 cu. ft., which is much more than what the Atlas Cross Sport gets.

The 2023 Volkswagen ID.4

The ID.4 is the most expensive SUV in Volkswagen’s lineup. The ID.4 is the most expensive VW SUV because it’s an electric SUV.

This electric VW SUV starts at about $37,500 before incentives. The standard ID.4 gets a single electric motor that generates 201 hp. Its battery pack allows it to go 208 miles on a single charge.

However, Volkswagen offers a longer-range version of the SUV, and it gets 275 miles on a single charge. There’s also a more powerful option which gets two electric motors that generate a combined 295 hp, but its range number will only be 255 miles.
