The Kia K5 midsize sedan debuted for the 2021 model year as the replacement for the now-defunct Optima, and it has garnered plenty of positive attention for its bold styling, long list of features for its price and respectable driving dynamics, particularly in the GT model.

The K5, despite sounding like a forgotten boy band from late ‘90s, is in the upper echelon for overall competence in its segment, but how much should buyers expect to pay for Kia’s middleweight sedan, both in its base trim and with all the bells and whistles? Here’s how much a fully loaded 2024 Kia K5 costs.

The GT tops the 2024 Kia K5 range in price and performance

The 2024 Kia K5 is available in four trims—LXS, GT-Line, EX and GT. The bottom three trims are powered by a 1.6-liter inline-four delivering 180 horsepower and 195 pound-feet of torque through an eight-speed automatic transmission. All three models come standard with front-wheel drive, and the GT-Line can be equipped with all-wheel drive for an additional $1,600.

Those wanting to add some pep to their daily commute can consider the K5 GT, which is the top trim level. The K5 GT is motivated by a 290-horsepower, 2.5-liter turbocharged inline-four with performance upgrades like a sport-tuned multi-link rear suspension, a dual-clutch automatic transmission, 19-inch wheels, upgraded brakes, front sport seats and some visual flair.

The 2024 K5 GT commands around $31,790 MSRP.

Optional packages and add-ons for a fully loaded 2024 Kia K5

K5 buyers aren’t inundated with numerous optional packages or extras to consider once they’ve whittled down that trim level they want, but there are some notable add-ons to consider.

However, LXS buyers should expect to pay near sticker price. The only significant add-ons are some optional exterior paint colors requiring an additional $445 or accessories like a cargo net ($55) or auto-dimming rearview mirror with Kia’s HomeLink system ($350).

The GT-Line can be upgraded with the GT-Line Premium Package ($800) which adds Kia’s Highway Driving Assist, smart cruise control, and other driver’s aids along with red synthetic leather upholstery. The aptly named GT-Line Panoramic Sunroof Package costs an additional $1,000 and includes a panoramic sunroof, LED interior lighting, and some black exterior trim.

The EX Premium Package, only available for the EX model, commands $3,600, but it includes a bevy of amenities. These include a heated steering wheel, surround view monitor, Bose audio system, 10-way power adjustable driver’s seat with lumbar support, smart cruise control with navigation and other features.

Most of those features are also included in the GT1 Package ($4,200) for GT models with some extras like ventilated front seats.

According to Kia’s build and price tool, a fully loaded GT model with every option ticked, including extra-cost paint and all accessories, carries an MSRP of $38,910.

The base model is much more affordable

The base LXS trimstarts at $25,390, excluding a $1,125 destination fee. Notable standard features include an eight-inch touchscreen, dual-zone automatic climate control, an eight-speaker sound system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, a USB port for each row, 16-inch wheels, remote start, and LED headlights.

The base model is well-equipped with driver’s aids including automatic forward emergency braking, lane-keep assist, rear cross-traffic alert, blind-spot warning, automatic high beams, and a driver attention warning.

The 2024 LXS is priced higher than the 2023 base K5 model, but only by $100. Pricing hasn’t yet been released for the 2024 Honda Accord, one of the K5’s closest rivals, but the Kia still rings in at about $2,000 cheaper than the base 2023 Accord and about $1,000 less than the 2023 Toyota Camry.
