Many people buy used cars and rarely have issues with their beloved rides. However, this isn’t always the case, as there are some real lemons on the market. This happened to one man when he decided to buy a Jeep Wrangler used. Of course, this isn’t a diss to the beloved midsize SUV, but his story shows why people need to investigate the vehicles they buy, regardless of whether they’re new or used. This includes letting auto mechanics inspect it.

Buying a Jeep Wrangler used can be a great idea, but it wasn’t this time

\Many people have decided to buy a Jeep Wrangler used. According to The Sun, Lou Martinez did this at a dealership in Ragley, Louisiana. This modified Jeep Wrangler Willys was one of his dream cars. As a precaution, he even visited the dealership three times to check out the Jeep Wrangler he planned to buy used.

However, things went downhill after he signed the paperwork and attempted to drive home the Jeep Wrangler he bought. The Louisiana man had his first issue with the modified Wrangler about ten miles from the dealership. According to him, “You buy it as is but why would a dealership sell a vehicle that didn’t make it 10 miles down the road upon purchase date and blowing out a rear seal?”

At the time, he had it towed back to the dealership, where the auto mechanics fixed the problem. However, he says they did a “patch job” instead of fixing it. Lou says there are other issues. He said, “I took it to a Jeep dealership in the area, and the advice is all hubs need replacing, the shaft needs to be replaced, speed sensors on front wheels as well as the ABS sensor, and [a] cruise control sensor.”

In total, the repairs for the Jeep Wrangler he bought used were about $3,800. Sadly, he does not have a warranty, so he must pay out of pocket. Lou goes on, “We purchased the vehicle mid-April, and we are under 450 driven miles, which mostly are back and forth to Leesville for repairs.”
