Kia owner calls out the automaker for refusing to fix his oil consumption issues as he has to fill up weekly
There’s been a lot said about Kia over the years. However, there’s no doubt that the automaker has some of the best new cars. Still, every car company has flaws. Now, one person with a brand new Kia vehicle has taken to the internet to highlight his issues with excessive oil consumption. He says he’s buying oil weekly just to keep his vehicle running, and Kia won’t help. Some online auto mechanics think they know the issue.
Some Kia vehicles are said to suffer from excessive oil consumption
Kia vehicles make up some of the best new cars on the market. This includes options like the Kia Telluride. However, according to Daily Dot, Rafael (@mrrafaelb) recently posted on TikTok to express his frustrations with his latest vehicle purchase. He doesn’t specifically say which Kia he bought, but whichever one he has happens to be burning through a large volume of oil.
The video about Kia vehicles and excessive oil use starts with him saying, “Gonna start documenting this process. I just put oil in my Kia last week. There’s literally no oil in this car.” The video has a text overlay that reads, “Horrible Kia engines.” It then shows him removing the dipstick to show the vehicle’s lack of oil.
He goes on to say that he has contacted Kia about this issue with its vehicles. However, the automaker told him they can’t do anything unless the engine “blows up.” Because of the overconsumption issue, he says he’s using half a jug of oil every week to keep his vehicle running, which is an added expense. Notably, he buys large jugs of oil.
Of course, this oil issue in some Kia vehicles could be the result of many things. However, some auto mechanics online think it’s due to a faulty positive crankcase ventilation valve.
