The unfortunate Kia challenge has been around for a couple of years now. Since then, the so-called Kia Boyz have successfully stolen several Kia and Hyundai models. Naturally, this has led to a Kia class-action lawsuit. Recently, a lady’s Kia Soul was taken for the second time in 18 months. This is despite the use of anti-theft devices.

The Kia challenge claimed her Soul despite using multiple layers of security

According to Fox5, Nikki Peele recently had her Kia Soul stolen for the second time in a little over a year. The first time she was a victim of the Kia challenge was in February of 2023 when the Kia Boyz stole the car from a DC parking garage. Nikki says it took her six weeks to get the car back and to have it fixed that time.

The second time was just last week. According to social media posts, the car went missing from her parking spot in a secure lot. Because of the Kia challenge, Nickki had installed an Apple Airtag, which made it easier for the police to track the stolen Kia Soul. The car was then found outside a home in Maryland. Now, the car is sitting in an impound lot.

Nickki doesn’t have high hopes after being a victim of the Kia Boyz

Unfortunately, Nikki doesn’t have high hopes that the Kia Boyz who stole her car will be arrested. Additionally, she thinks it may be a while before she can get her vehicle back. She says, “Do I think anyone is going to catch these people? No, I don’t. So what’s next is I have to pick up a rental car. I only have it for 30 days, and I have to figure out where to get my car fixed, and I have to figure out if I’m going to keep the car.”

Nikki continues, “I was sobbing to my mom about it, and she said, “Nikki, it’s not worth your life.”

Regarding the Kia challenge, it isn’t as widespread as it was a couple of years ago. Additionally, there is no guarantee that the Kia Boyz were behind the theft in this situation. In terms of the Kia lawsuit, notices were sent out earlier this year to inform owners of who may be eligible for the settlement. It’s unclear if Nikki’s Kia Soul would qualify. It’s heartbreaking that this keeps happening to Kia and Hyundai owners because of this despicable challenge.
