What Is the Maserati Fuoriserie Program?
Maserati‘s status as a relatively niche performance luxury brand, one that doesn’t often introduce new models or radically update its lineup, has resulted in much of the Italian automaker’s models and future developments being overlooked by automotive press and enthusiasts alike. However, Maserati still makes waves now and then with new initiatives, including its Fuoriserie program, which provides Maserati models like no other for shoppers wealthy enough buyers. Here’s a look at all that the Maserati Fuoriserie program entails.
Maserati serves as the luxe performance option among Italian automakers
Maserati, which was founded in 1914, has its foundations in racing. However, its performance pedigree continues over a century later, despite the brand now emphasizing luxury in about equal measure to outright sportiness. That is underscored by Maserati’s current lineup. Its models are far notably more upscale than offerings from its fellow Italian automaker, Alfa Romeo, but far more accessible than Ferrari, with a focus more on overall comfort than track-day speed. Consider Maserati an appealing brand for those who value Italian style and performance but also have a bad back.
The Maserati Ghibli is a midsize luxury sport sedan with plenty of driving verve, particularly in the 572-hp Trofeo model. Meanwhile, the Quattroporte is the flagship sedan of the lineup, adding size, luxe accommodations, and power. Maserati has also joined the SUV ranks with the Grecale compact crossover and the midsize Levante, which competes with models like the BMW X5 M, Porsche Cayenne Turbo, and Audi RS Q8.
However, showing the brand still caters to the performance crowd, the MC20 super sports car is also available with a twin-turbo V6 cranking out over 620 horsepower. Additionally, the GranTurismo nameplate is also returning for the 2024 model year with the stylish sports coupe, delivering either 483 or 542 horsepower. The brand is also eyeing its electric future with two all-electric models, the 818-horsepower GranTurismo Folgore and the Grecale Folgore.
Many of these models are included within Maserati’s Fuoriserie program allowing buyers to create a unique model that caters to their own tastes.
Maserati’s Fuoriserie program delivers a wide range of customization options
Fuoriserie is Italian for custom-built, and as the name implies, the program allows Maserati buyers the option to create a bespoke model with unique styling cues, colors, and materials. The Fuoriserie program made its debut for the 2022 model year. Maserati states it will “work with the customer to determine the core values that drive them…to ensure the custom vehicle represents the driver’s true spirit.”
The Fuoriserie program is currently available for four models, the MC20, Quattroporte, Ghibli, and Levante, and it allows them to be decked out in a long list of eye-grabbing paints.
The Ghibli, for instance, can be had in 21 hues, ranging from the Girgio Maratea Matte black to Giallo Modenese, a yellow so vivid it could perhaps be considered a road hazard by blinding other motorists. The MC20 can be had with color-changing hues like “Digital Mint.”
Along with the various color choices, Fuoriserie makes available several “Liveries & Dreamlines,” effectively options for stripes, or other painted accents. These include double racing stripes on the hood, a triangular accent from the grille to front glass harkening to the MC12 Competition Nero racing car, non-body-paint accents along near intakes or the “Asymmetric” option which colors the front third of the MC20 in either Rosso Corse or aqua hues.
Buyers can also choose from unique wheels or color options for brake rotors like Blue Classic, Rosso Corse, or Lime.
The Quattroporte, Ghibli, and Levante can be equipped with unique upholstery, like Living Coral with white stitching or a mix of red leather with grey accents. Many of these bespoke options are available in two collections, Corse or Futura.
The Corse collection celebrates the brand’s racing history with “historically accurate colors and original components combined with contemporary reinterpretation through innovative pigments and new technology.” Meanwhile, the Futura collection emphasizes all-new color combinations and new materials inspired by the sportswear and interior décor industries.
Interested buyers can use the online Maserati Fuoriserie configurator to check out all the available options and can head to their Maserati dealership to order their bespoke creation. Maserati doesn’t outline pricing for its Fuoriserie program online, but it’s fairly safe to assume it’s not cheap.
