Polestar is one of the most innovative automakers on the market today. Now, the Swedish EV maker has announced its Polestar 4 vehicle. The Polestar 4 is what’s known as a Coupe SUV. Not only does it sport a pretty unique exterior design, but the new all-electric SUV is now the automaker’s faster model. Here’s a look at the Polestar 4, which will have a staggered release, with many parts of the world getting it in early 2024.
Polestar’s fastest production model
According to the automaker, the Polestar 4 has a dual motor all-wheel drive setup with a maximum output of 544 horsepower. This version of the all-electric SUV, touted as Polestar’s fastest, accelerates from 0 to 62 miles per hour in an impressive 3.8 seconds. The Polestar 4 also comes in a 272 horsepower rear-mounted single-motor version. Both models of the new Polestar SUV are long-range, and a standard-range version is expected to come later.
Both versions of the upcoming Polestar 4 have a 102 kWh battery pack. The dual-motor all-electric SUV has a range of almost 350 miles, while the single motor option also has a great range on a single charge. The automaker didn’t specify charging times. However, the peak charging rate is up to 200 kilowatts with the use of a DC fast charger; there is also a 22-kW onboard charger.
In addition, the vehicle has bilateral charging. This allows the vehicle to become a power source for other items. Though bilateral charging isn’t unique to Polestar, it’s still pretty nifty. The Kia EV6 also has it.
The Polestar 4 interior is advanced
The implementation of progressive interiors is something the world knows Polestar for. Its upcoming Coupe SUV is a continuation of that level of interior design. It features an impressive 15.4-inch landscape-oriented infotainment screen. Android Automotive OS and the Snapdragon Cockpit Platform power the display. Since Google is built in, it’s easy to stay connected with the use of Google Maps, Google Assistant, and Google Play.
Regarding the car sound system, buyers can upgrade it to a 12-speaker Harman Kardon with a 1,400-Watt channel amplifier. Getting the optional Nappa package will add headrest speakers to the front seats. Instead of a rearview mirror, the Polestar 4 has a high-definition screen that receives a live feed of the car’s rear. This can be deactivated to see rear passengers.
In general, the inside of the new Polestar SUV is pretty luxurious. It has a sleek minimalist look but with a ton of features. The car has ambient lighting intended to mimic the solar system. Buyers can also add heat ventilation and massage seats for front passengers. The rear seats can recline.
Polestar 4: A glass roof and no rear window
One of the first things people will notice about the Polestar 4 is that it lacks a rear window. Instead, the SUV’s glass roof extends past the rear passengers’ heads. The automaker says it provides a brand-new experience for the rear passengers. It’s a much more immersive experience. The front lights also give the vehicle’s exterior a more unique and upscale look.
Overall, the Polestar 4 is 82.2 inches wide and has a wheelbase of 118.1 inches. It’s a pretty big Coupe SUV that is sure to turn heads once officially on the roads. Despite this, many will claim the vehicle looks almost nothing like an SUV, much like the Tesla Model Y. The Polestar 4 will start at around $60,000.
