The second-gen Tesla Roadster is one of the most anticipated vehicles. Elon Musk has been talking about it for a while now. However, due to increased competition, the company has quite a bit of work to do to make it one of the best all-electric cars on the market. Recently, the Tesla CEO provided a small update about the elusive roadster.

The new Tesla Roadster is almost ready

The new Tesla Roadster is a vehicle that could easily become one of the best all-electric cars. However, there’s still a wait before buyers can get behind the wheel of one. According to Teslarati, Elon recently provided eager buyers with a bit more information regarding production. According to Elon, “With respect to Roadster, we’ve completed most of the engineering.”

Still, he goes on to say that more work must be done. “And I think there’s still some upgrades we want to make to it, but we expect to be in production with [the] Roadster next year. It will be something special. Like the whole thing might be.”

Elon first announced the new Tesla Roadster in 2017. At the time, he estimated that it would accelerate from 0 to 60 miles per hour in only 1.99 seconds and have a top speed of 250 miles per hour. Regarding range, he predicted 620 miles on a full charge. While this would still be great by today’s standards, the new Roadster needs increased performance to stand out against other cars.

In recent years, Elon has teased just that as other cars on the market are faster than Elon predicted the new Tesla Roadster would achieve. The continued wait for the new Roadster means that it could be something truly special regarding range and performance.
