Some Nissan vehicles are high on the list of the best new cars. However, like many automakers, the company has struggled with moving inventory. Because of this, the Japanese company implemented steep discounts to attract more American buyers. Unfortunately, these efforts seem to have gone too far, and Nissan now has even more financial problems. Still, the Nissan Rogue remains popular in 2024.

Nissan vehicles are seeing a decline in popularity

The 2024 Nissan Rogue is one of the best new cars on the market. However, it alone can’t save the company. According to Yahoo Finance, Nissan’s operating profit for April through June came out to be 995 million yen, which equates to about $6.5 million. This marks a steep decline for Nissan vehicles, as the operating profit for the same time last year was 128 billion yen. 

Makoto Uchida, the CEO of Nissan, had this to say, “The first quarter was a very tough one for Nissan. However, we’ll recover our performance by taking clear measures to address the challenges and launching new models.”

Sadly, this is the worst quarter in three years for Nissan vehicles. As a result, the automaker has slashed its projected yearly operating profit by 17% to 500 billion yen. The company has also lowered its expected sales to 3.65 million vehicles for the year. 

It’s also important to note that sales for Nissan vehicles were on par with 2023. However, the company has lower profits thanks to discounts in North America and an increase in marketing expenses. Shares for Nissan have dropped since the dire announcement regarding profits. 

Still, Nissan does have some popular vehicles. The Nissan Rogue is its most popular vehicle, and it had higher sales in 2024 than in 2023. The same is the case for the Nissan Sentra, which is its second best-selling vehicle. The automaker hopes to turn things around with the refreshed Nissan Armada and the new Murano.
