The Nissan Z Is Far Outpacing the Toyota GR Supra in 2024
The 2024 Nissan Z and the new Toyota GR Supra are among the best sports cars on the market. They’re both incredibly fast and have modern features that sports car lovers crave. However, the Nissan Z is much more popular than the Toyota GR Supra and happens to be even more so than it was in 2023. Here’s a look into the sales of both cars and why the Z is more attractive to buyers.
The 2024 Nissan Z and the Toyota GR Supra are trending in different directions
The Nissan Z is gaining ground in 2024 as one of the best sports cars. So far this year, the car has sold 671 units. This is a significant increase, as 466 people bought the Nissan Z in 2023. However, the Toyota GR Supra is a different story as, according to Good Car Bad Car, only 484 people have driven off the lot with one so far in 2024. This represents a 46% decline in sales for the Toyota sports car.
In general, Nissan is on a high so far this year. The automaker has sold 252,735 units so far in 2024, which is a 7.2% increase over Q1 of 2023. Though it’s up in sales, the 2024 Nissan Z was far from being the most popular vehicle from the automaker. That title belongs to the Rogue, which sold over 90,000 units so far in 2024.
The Z offers more value
The 2024 Nissan Z and the new Toyota GR Supra are similar vehicles. However, the Nissan is one of the best sports cars for overall value. It’s a little less expensive than the 2024 Toyota GR Supra and is also more powerful. All trims of the Z use a 3.0-liter V6 engine that makes 400 horsepower and has a torque of 350 lb-ft.
However, the 2024 Supra has two powertrain options. The first is a turbocharged 255 horsepower 2.0-liter that has a torque of 295 lb-ft. People who want more power can go for the turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six engine that makes 382 horsepower and has a torque of 368 lb-ft. Regarding speed, the Toyota is faster as the 3.0-liter engine accelerates from 0 to 60 in 3.9 seconds.
The 2024 Nissan Z needs about 4.3 seconds to get from 0 to 60 miles per hour. However, it starts at only $42,310. Unfortunately, the trims of the new GR Supra with the more powerful trim start beyond $50,000. Both are solid vehicles and offer similar interior features. However, it seems more people are picking the 2024 Nissan Z due to price.
