As anyone knows, police officers have a dangerous job. Unfortunately, anything could go wrong in the line of duty, and they sometimes sustain injuries while protecting the community. This happened recently as an NYPD officer was conducting a traffic stop, and the suspect tried to flee. Sadly, the driver got away, but the officer only had minor injuries.

This traffic stop didn’t go the way it should have

There are always viral stories of people acting erratically when the police pull them over. Often, these encounters don’t lead to injuries for either party. However, according to Rochester First, this wasn’t the case recently when a police officer was hit by a car after attempting to conduct a traffic stop. This happened on the night of October 10th.

The original purpose of the traffic stop is unknown. However, reports say that the officer on the scene contacted the East Rochester Police Department around 11:14 p.m. for assistance after being stuck by the vehicle. Unfortunately, the driver ended up crashing the car and then escaped on foot. The police officer only sustained minor injuries and was treated on the scene. Specifically, this all went down near East Linden Avenue and Whitney Road in Rochester, New York.

Currently, the police department is investigating the situation and trying to track down the fleeing driver. However, it seems not much is known about the person’s identity beyond the vehicle information and what they left behind in the car after running away.
