Many people travel by flight each year. Unfortunately, as with all forms of traveling, flying isn’t perfect, and sometimes there’s turbulence. This disturbance can sometimes be severe and cause other issues, such as falling items. Now, a plane passenger is suing American Airlines after she sustained injuries while on an airplane. The flight in question occurred earlier this year.

This plane passenger is suing American Airlines over more than just hot coffee

Everyone remembers the infamous McDonald’s lawsuit over the person burned by hot coffee several years ago. Sadly, it’s been mocked by people all over the world. However, one American Airlines plane passenger has a bit of a more severe story. According to Business Insider, Gina Mason is suing the industry giant over burns she suffered while flying from Baltimore to Detroit in February of this year.

According to the plane passenger, there was turbulence as one of the flight attendants was pushing the food trolley down the aisle. The attendant parked the trolley and took a seat as the turbulence happened. On the trolley was a pot of hot coffee, which unfortunately fell into Gina’s lap because of the turbulence.

The lady suffered first and second-degree burns from the hot coffee pot. This includes her legs, thighs, and more sensitive areas. The lawsuit also says Gina has suffered anxiety and depression as a result of the incident.

The plane passenger is asking for “a comprehensive and open-ended amount of damages in excess of $75,000” as a result of the injuries she suffered. She filed the lawsuit last month but recently refiled it in a Michigan District Court.

Of course, she isn’t the only person to recently sue an airline after being hurt during travel. Check out our article on the lady who broke her ankle on a JetBlue flight.
