These days, plane passengers have learned that anything can go wrong while traveling. Flights are often canceled due to weather. Additionally, there can be staff shortages or even days-long delays. However, people aboard a recent transatlantic Delta flight experienced a delay after someone reportedly got sick on the airplane. Luckily, they were eventually transferred to another flight.

These plane passengers were transferred to another flight after someone suffered a medical emergency

Suffering a medical emergency can be one of the scariest things to experience while traveling. This is especially the case when you’re mid-flight with almost 300 other people. According to the New York Post, this happened on a recent transatlantic flight. The plane passengers were aboard an Airbus A330 flying from Boston to Rome.

Things were going well for the plane passengers and the crew until an hour into the flight. According to initial reports, one person on the plane suffered a medical emergency. Because of this, the flight then turned around and was diverted to New York City. A spokesperson for Delta blamed the change in flight direction on a “customer medical issue en route.”

However, the OnlyInBoston account on X says that the person suffered a bout of diarrhea. If true, this would have made the aircraft a biohazard for the rest of the plane passengers, as the account says it happened while the person was seated. Reports say that the airline was able to begin using the aircraft about 20 hours after the incident. Of course, this wouldn’t be the first time this has happened, as a similar story went viral last year.
