Concerned pilot recently gave 150 passengers a pizza party after they were forced to make an emergency landing
Reports say that there are about 2.9 million daily plane passengers in the U.S. Naturally, flying is one of the most popular modes of transportation. However, things can always go wrong, causing delays. This happened to one United Airlines flight when the airplane had to make an emergency landing due to a passenger becoming ill. However, the pilot went out of his way to brighten the days of the 150 people who were delayed for several hours.
This pilot went above and beyond for these plane passengers
Plane passengers are usually at the mercy of several situations, as almost anything could cause a delay. According to the NY Post, a flight was traveling from San Francisco to Houston, Texas, on September 13th. Everything progressed as it should until one person became ill in the bathroom of the airplane. Reports say that the person collapsed and needed medical care, which prompted an emergency landing in New Mexico.
Naturally, this meant that the other plane passengers experienced a delay. Unfortunately, this ended up lasting for several hours as they awaited accommodations. Initially, United Airlines provided $15 vouchers to the delayed passengers. However, the restaurants in the airport were closed, which meant they were unable to use the vouchers.
Luckily, the pilot was there and noticed the frustrations of the plane passengers. Because of this, he decided to order 30 pizzas from a local restaurant and have them delivered to the hungry passengers. Of course, this lifted their spirits while they waited for the next steps in their travel. One person had this to say, “Most organizations do not go above and beyond, but that captain did not hesitate. His display that evening is what we should have more of selfless acts of love, compassion, and humanity.”
The ordeal lasted for about seven hours, and they eventually landed in Houston around 2 a.m. If only everyone flying could have a pilot like this one.
