Plane passengers are usually aware that certain things aren’t allowed on the aircraft. Of course, these rules are put in place for the safety of all passengers and to adhere to various laws. However, one recent story out of California involving an emergency landing shows what can happen when people ignore the guidelines and decide to bring narcotics on an airplane.

These plane passengers ended up in handcuffs

Most plane passengers are aware that anything can happen while flying. According to CBS 8, a small aircraft traveling over California had to make an emergency landing in Oceanside due to engine issues. The report says that local law enforcement received word of the surprise landing around 1:43 a.m. on September 26th and went to investigate.

After landing in Oceanside, California, the plane passengers exited the aircraft, and the police conducted a search. However, they found that the two people who had been traveling had “a large quantity of narcotics.” Being that it was such a small plane, there was no doubt who the drugs belonged to. This means the police arrested them both.

The reports also say that the plane passengers were coming from Mesa, Arizona. They were intending to land shortly after 2:00 a.m., and both people aboard the plane were residents of Oceanside. The plane they were using was a Piper Dakota single-engine aircraft. Naturally, the Federal Aviation Administration will be conducting an investigation into the owner of the plane, the pilot, and the purpose of the trip.
