This unruly plane passenger pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct and has to fork over thousands for wasted fuel
Nowadays, there are almost always viral stories of plane passengers being unruly. Sometimes, it’s in the airport when something goes wrong with their tickets. Other times, it’s when the flight is in progress. The ladder is what happened last year with one Australian plane passenger. Now, he has entered a guilty plea and owes thousands for his actions on the airplane.
This plane passenger owes thousands for fuel
According to the New York Post, a man from Australia was a plane passenger on a flight from Perth to Sydney in September of last year. Everything was going well with the flight, but he became unruly for an unspecified reason. Things escalated so much that the pilot decided to abort the trip and turn the plane around, ruining everyone’s travel experience. They also dumped the fuel from the plane before landing.
The airline crew called the Australian Federal Police on the plane passenger, who was arrested and charged. Less than a year later, he appeared at the Perth Magistrates Court and pleaded guilty to “disorderly conduct on an aircraft and failure to comply with safety instructions.”
Regarding his punishment, the man has some hefty fines. First, the plane passenger has to pay $8,630 to the airline for the wasted fuel. He has also been charged $9,000 for his unruly actions. A representative from the Australian Federal Police said, “This incident should serve as a warning that criminal behavior on board can come at a heavy cost to the offender.”
Regarding his behaviors, rumors say that he became severely intoxicated to the point the airline crew refused to serve him any more drinks. If reports are true, this led to his unruly actions.
