A group of Virginia sophomores surprised their favorite custodian with a pre-owned Jeep Wrangler
According to Fox 5 DC, a group of students from James Madison High School in Virginia recently surprised Francis Apraku, their favorite custodian, with his dream car, a pre-owned Jeep Wrangler, for his birthday. After several months of online fundraising, the students did so on September 9th.
The students remembered that Mr. Apraku had previously mentioned wanting a Jeep Wrangler. After that, they decided to create a GoFundMe to raise funds to pay for the rugged SUV. The students received $5,000 on the first day the online fundraiser was active. In the end, they raised $20,000. They sought out the help of a local car salesperson to find a model and trim that would fit their budget for the gesture.
Logan Georgelas, one of the students who set up the fundraiser for the pre-owned Jeep Wrangler, had this to say, “We just kind of decided we were going to try to get him his Jeep Wrangler with the GoFundMe, and we never really thought that it would come this far.” Notably, the students remarked on the man’s kindness and ability to put a smile on everyone’s faces.
He continued, “When we got $5,000 in the first day, we were like, all right, this is real.”
Mr. Apraku expressed his gratitude to the students for the pre-owned Jeep Wrangler by saying, “I will give thanks to Almighty God for making today for me. Today is a great day for me, and I didn’t believe this would happen in my life.”
He went on, “This day, Sept. 9, I will never, ever forget.”
