The idea of car owners filing class action suits against automakers is commonplace. However, it’s less expected that car companies will go after vendors. This isn’t the case with Stellantis, as the company has filed another lawsuit against one of its suppliers. Of course, this new lawsuit comes after Stellantis has experienced several issues over the last few years with its cars

Stellantis is filing a lawsuit for being overcharged

Stellantis is no stranger to class action suits being filed against it by car owners. However, according to CarScoops, Stellantis has filed a lawsuit against Spectra Premium Mobility Solutions. The automotive giant says that the supplier has hiked prices of fuel tanks for the Chrysler Pacifica despite having already produced them.

Apparently, the company has increased the price for the necessary fuel tanks by a whopping 12.5 percent, and the price difference is retroactive to the first of January. Naturally, Stellantis not getting the product would impact production of the new Chrysler Pacifica.

As for current actions, the automotive giant requested a temporary restraining order. This measure would have ensured the fuel tanks were at the contract price, but a judge denied the request. This means the company will need to pay the new price for the pumps or halt production. Spectra is the fourth of its suppliers that Stellants has filed lawsuits against as it tries to cut costs to offset sagging sales.

Things are so bad for the company that others, such as my colleague Allison Barfield, have questioned whether Setllantis is going out of business. There have also been several widespread recalls impacting Stellantis cars.
