Stellantis can’t seem to catch a break these days. It was recently reported that the company’s struggle with declining sales is ongoing. Now, the automotive giant has another recall on its hands. This time, the massive recall is over seat belt issues, and it impacts more than 300,000 vehicles across several automakers owned by Stellantis. Sadly, the company has had a number of car recalls in recent memory.

Here’s what you need to know.

Stellantis is no stranger to car recalls

Car recalls are never good for automakers. This is especially the case for companies with declining sales. According to Reuters, Stellantis has issued a recall for 332,000 vehicles for faulty seat belt sensors. A U.S. auto safety regulator had this to say about the issue, “A seat belt buckle switch sensor may be improperly connected, preventing the front seat airbag from deploying as intended.”

The buckle sensors in question are essential because they detect if the seat belt is engaged the way it should be. This issue impacts Jeep, Fiat, and Alfa Romeo vehicles. Stellantis has received 576 complaints over the seat belt problem but has not been notified of any accidents related to the defect. As with all car recalls, Stellantis will fix the issue for free.

The recall includes the following:

  • 2017-2014 Alfa Romeo Giulia
  • 2018-2025 Alfa Romeo Stelvio
  • 2024 Fiat 500E
  • 2019-2023 Fiat 500X
  • 2019-2023 Jeep Renegade

Of course, there have been worse car recalls in recent months. However, this one is pretty significant as it impacts quite a few older and new Stellantis vehicles. The great thing is that there haven’t been any reported car accidents related to the issue. Now, check out our article discussing the most recent reports of Stellantis sales and where its various automakers stand. Hopefull, things will get better for the automotive giant.
