alfa romeo
Alfa Romeo Automobiles S.p.A. is an Italian premium automotive manufacturer brand and division of Stellantis (formerly Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA)). Alfa Romeo is primarily known for its performance-focused racing cars involved in motorsports and sport-oriented models, including sedans, SUVs, and roadsters.
Founded in 1910 as A.L.F.A. (Anonima Lombarda Fabbrica Automobili), the first car produced by the company was the 1910 24 HP, which soon afterward competed in the 1911 Targa Florio automobile race in Sicily. After building military hardware starting in 1915 for the Allied forces in World War I, the company was officially renamed Alfa Romeo in 1920. The first vehicle designated as an Alfa Romeo model with official badging was the Torpedo 20-30 HP.
After years of unprofitability through the 1900s, Alfa Romeo transitioned from hand-building of luxury cars to mass production while still successfully competing in motor racing. In 1986, Alfa Romeo was incorporated into the Fiat Group, where it remains under the new Stellantis name.
