fj cruiser
The Toyota FJ Cruiser was a midsize off-road SUV model produced and sold by the Toyota Motor Corporation. The FJ Cruiser was sized below the Toyota Sequoia and Land Cruiser full-size SUV models during its production run. After being discontinued in the U.S., it was largely succeeded by the Toyota 4Runner.
The development of the Toyota FJ Cruiser began as a new Land Cruiser model to reinvent the original 40 Series (FJ40) that was discontinued in 1984. Experimenting with many styles, a retro-style aimed at a young male audience was eventually finalized. Once complete, the FJ Cruiser concept vehicle made its official debut at the 2003 Detroit Auto Show where its design received praise and was viewed as a new flagship model for the brand.
Primarily designed for the American market, the Toyota FJ Cruiser was discontinued in the U.S. after the 2014 model year but is still popular through select imports and a handful of overseas markets. During the height of its run, its competition included the Jeep Wrangler, the Nissan Xterra, and the Suzuki Jimny.
