Police officers never know what they may uncover when pulling people over for a traffic stop. Sometimes, situations can become dangerous, and other traffic stops could uncover illegal items such as drugs. This happened recently in California when police officers used drug sniffer dogs to uncover a large amount of multiple hard-core drugs.

This traffic stop led to police uncovering way more drugs than they had anticipated

Police officers conduct traffic stops for several reasons. It could be due to violations such as speeding, or they can decide to perform a routine traffic stop. According to Fox 40, California Highway Patrol officers did a routine stop on a busy highway in Sacramento. However, things went south after the officers “noticed signs of possible drug trafficking.” It’s unclear what the signs were.

After this, the officers employed the help of drug sniffer dogs with the traffic stop. The dogs signaled the presence of narcotics, which prompted the police to order the two people out of the car, and they then searched the vehicle. The vehicle search led to them finding 94 pounds of methamphetamines and 15 grams of cocaine. The cocaine is said to have a street value of $2,077.

Both drugs were in the trunk of the car. Notably, the passenger attempted to flee on foot before the police officers were able to catch up. However, reports say that, besides this infraction, the suspects complied with the police orders.

Naturally, the police officers apprehended the two people after the traffic stop and took them to the local precinct. Now, they are each being held on a $1 million bail.
