As mentioned before, police officers never know what crazy antics people will get themselves into. Often, these odd behaviors arrive while pulling people over with their squad car, but this isn’t always the case. Recently, Washington state citizens observed some erratic driving and called the police to conduct a traffic stop. However, things got even more weird as the encounter went on. Luckily, traffic cams made finding the driver easier.

This woman didn’t even need a traffic stop for her bad behavior

It’s not uncommon for police officers to conduct a traffic stop when they notice erratic driving. However, that wasn’t the case here. According to KREM 2, The Grant County Sheriff’s Office received a call on October 16th about a stolen car with a two-month-old baby in the backseat. Luckily, this part of Washington uses traffic cams, and they were able to pinpoint the vehicle’s location quickly.

However, about 15 minutes passed, and the police got another call about the vehicle. The report said the person behind the wheel was driving erratically this time. Specifically, the person was driving all over the road and going in and out of ditches. Naturally, the police officer arriving on the scene intended to do a traffic stop to apprehend the driver. However, once on the scene, they found it parked in the middle of the road. From there, they arrested Rita Gabriella Lozano, who is only 21 years old. Thankfully, the baby was fine.

Sadly, the story doesn’t end there. Of course, Rita was placed in handcuffs and put in the back of the squad car. However, before the police officer left the scene, she somehow got out of the cuffs, crawled into the driver’s seat of the squad car, and took off. They closed the road they were on for about an hour while trying to catch her. Eventually, they apprehended her, and an ambulance transported her to Samaritan Healthcare in Moses Lake. After being evaluated, they learned that she was drunk and had taken some form of drugs.

The police officer suffered minor injuries, and the woman damaged three police cars during the intense encounter. She’s now in the Grant County Jail facing charges of kidnapping, theft of a motor vehicle, and DUI.
