No one likes being pulled over for traffic stops by the police. Typically, when this happens, only one person at a time gets pulled over for breaking the law in some way. However, recently, one police officer pulled over nine of the best sports cars simultaneously while the drivers were at an event. The police department then posted the dash cam footage online and used it as a teachable moment for safety, as speeding is one of the leading causes of car wrecks.

Speeding is never a good idea. On the lighter end of things, traffic stops are never fun, and citations are even worse. However, speeding is also a leading cause of car wrecks. According to Yahoo, one California police officer recently pulled over nine of the best sports cars for the offense when their drivers were at Monterey Car Week. 

While the footage posted online by the California Highway Patrol doesn’t show them speeding, that’s what the caption the agency used strongly implies. Among these cars were a Ferrari, various McLarens, some Lamborghini models, and a couple of Porsches. Of course, each of these vehicles can go far beyond the speed limit. This also makes it easy to assume they were going too fast at the time. 

The California Highway Patrol posted the video with a caption that reads, “Speeding is dangerous! Speeding is one of the most common driving violations and one of the leading causes of all fatalities on the road. Yesterday, one of our Officers pulled over 9 vehicles on SR-1 for speeding. All drivers were cited.”

As many of the comments on the video pointed out one thing. Getting a citation isn’t a significant problem for anyone who can afford one of those cars. Still, safety is paramount, and speeding puts everyone in danger. Keeping people on the road safe is one of the reasons traffic stops are important.
