Dodge has made some of the best sports cars of all time. However, one of its most significant claims to fame is the Dodge Charger, which happens to be one of the best sedans. However, not all used Dodge Charger models are reliable. In fact, some present a number of severe maintenance issues for drivers. In particular, the 2012, 2011, and 2006 Dodge Charger models are among the worst.

The 2012 Dodge Charger is not among the best used sedans

People may know Dodge for producing some of the best sports cars, but it also has a few less-than-stellar models. In particular, the 2012 Dodge Charger isn’t among the best, as it has some notable issues. For starters, it has some transmission problems, with the most pronounced being harsh shifts. Dodge released a fix for this issue, but it’s still a concern for owners. According to Cars.com, it also has several recalls.

There are also a number of reports of the check engine illuminating in the 2012 Charger. Unfortunately, there are several causes for this issue with the Charger. One happens to be due to a failed thermostat. There are also reports of this model Charger making a groaning noise when steering. Of course, none of these problems are major, but there are far too many solid used Charger models to settle for this one. 

The 2011 model has issues

When it comes to used Dodge Charger models, the 2011 edition isn’t one of the best sedans. Like the 2012 Charger, it doesn’t have significant issues, but it’s also not the most reliable option. Many drivers have reported that the car vibrates when driving and that it can be incredibly off-putting. There are also issues with the vehicle experiencing harsh shifts, which is present in a few used Charger models. 

The 2011 Charger also has issues with the power windows. In particular, there are reports of the window regulator going out and causing the power windows to not work. Naturally, this is an expensive fix for owners. 

The 2006 model is far from perfect

Several used Dodge Charger models from recent years make for the best sedans. However, some buyers may pick older models, such as the 2006 Dodge Charger. Sadly, this would be a mistake as it is one of the worst. Unlike later editions of the car, the 2006 Charger has significant issues, with one of the biggest having to do with the engine. 

In particular, there are many reports of the 2006 Dodge Charger experiencing premature engine failure. Not only that, but it also has some notable transmission issues that extend further than harsh shifts. 

Overall, the Dodge Charger is a solid option for people wanting performance that usually comes from the best sports cars. However, not all models are perfect. The problems modern used Charger models have aren’t the worst, but they are also easily avoidable.
