Police officers see and experience some upsetting things while on patrol. Often, these over-the-top experiences happen during traffic stops with drivers who are potentially guilty of something. Recently, one man from Virginia took the proverbial cake when a police officer tried to conduct a traffic stop. This all ended with the driver being charged with multiple crimes.

This man exited a moving vehicle to avoid a traffic stop

Being pulled over for a traffic stop can be stressful. This is even the case for people who haven’t committed crimes. However, the decision to run should never be a thought as it only leads to more trouble. According to Fox 5 DC, this recently happened in Washington, DC, when Travis Singleton, 45, tried to evade a traffic stop.

This happened on October 6th when the local police department received word of a “suspicious vehicle” near the 3500 block of 22nd Street. Once the police arrived, they learned that Travis had been driving his vehicle erratically. Naturally, they tried to conduct a traffic stop, but Travis exited the moving car and tried to flee on foot.

Things got worse as the police officers on the scene got closer to the erratic driver. First, he pulled out a lighter and fired it up near the police officer’s face. They took him into custody, but Travis continued his violent response and refused to comply. Law enforcement officers then transferred him to the hospital, where he tried and failed to bite them.

As with many traffic stops, the police searched Travis’ car. Their search uncovered some form of narcotics. He now has several charges, including attempted malicious wounding of law enforcement, driving under the influence, assault on police, and obstruction of justice.
