The 2023 Ford Edge offers solid performance
The 2023 Ford Edge is the best midsize SUV out of the two due to its performance. To be honest, the Grand Cherokee is more powerful on the base trim, but the Ford comes out on top due to the 2023 Ford Edge ST. According to Edmunds, the latest Edge has a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four with a maximum output of 250 hp.
However, the 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee has a standard 293 hp 3.6-liter V6 under its hood. The 2023 Ford Edge ST has a 2.7-liter V6 with a maximum output of 335 hp and a torque of 380 lb-ft. The Edge accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in 6.1 to 7.4 seconds. Jeep’s Grand Cherokee isn’t far off at 7.4 seconds.
The Ford Edge is safe
The 2023 Ford Edge is one of the best midsize SUVs because it’s a safe option. In fact, the vehicle is a Top Safety Pick by the IIHS and has a five out of five-star safety rating. This means that the vehicle got high marks in all of the organization’s categories for safety.
However, the 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee fairs much worse in safety. Unfortunately, the midsize Jeep SUV has an overall poor rating from the IIHS. But it does have a good rating in the structure and safety cage category. This low level of overall safety is associated with a few Jeep SUVs.
