The 2023 Honda CR-V is a top-rated SUV for multiple types of buyers. However, as is usually the case, the 2022 model would work fine for most people. The 2022 CR-V has most of the same features and primarily only has aesthetic differences. Luckily, there is also a 2022 Honda CR-V Hybrid for folks who want to save fuel. Here’s why people are still buying the 2022 Honda CR-V.

The CR-V 2022 has great performance

The 2022 CR-V delivers impressive performance with its standard 1.5-liter turbocharged engine. According to Car and Driver, it has a maximum output of 190 horsepower and uses a continuously variable transmission. The 2022 Honda CR-V Hybrid uses a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine along with two electric motors and has a horsepower of 201. This Honda vehicle is also one of the best towing options of its class, as it can handle up to 1500 pounds.

Regarding speed, the Honda CR-V generally isn’t the fastest SUV or crossover. The CR-V 2022 accelerates from 0 to 60 miles per hour in under 9 seconds. The Hybrid version does the feat in 7.5 seconds. For the sake of comparison, the CR-V 2023 has a similar acceleration time, which is a notable reason people are still buying the 2022 model.

How is the 2023 CR-V different from the previous model

For the most part, vehicles don’t usually change drastically from model year to model year. However, the 2023 CR-V was the start of a new generation for the vehicle, so there are some notable differences. Perhaps the most apparent is that the CR-V is bigger, which can be seen both on the outside and inside. On the outside, it’s clearly wider and longer, but the inside has more space.

The newest Honda CR-V also has slightly improved interior technology. The 2022 model comes standard with a 5-inch radio screen with higher trims getting a 7-inch display. Now, the CR-V comes standard with a 7-inch infotainment system. The 2023 CR-V also has an improved sound system over the previous model. Overall, not everyone will care about the changes because both models are great vehicles, but others will want the brand-new interior and larger size.

What has also changed from the CR-V 2022 is that the automaker made some mechanical improvements. While the performance is mostly the same, the continuously variable transmission has been adjusted to be more responsive. In addition, the all-wheel drive system is better than in the CR-V 2022. These changes also mean slightly improved fuel economy.

Though not a significant savings, many people buy the 2022 Honda CR-V over the newest model because it often comes at a slightly lower price. However, depending on the trim, it could even be slightly more expensive than a base model 2023 Honda CR-V. The latest model starts at $28,410 before any extras are added. The 2022 CR-V had a starting price of $26,800 when it was new.

Regarding buying SUVs, most people purchase models that are either a few years old or brand-new. However, some people still purchase the previous model because it’s next to the newest thing. There are differences between the models of the Honda CR-V, but many people would be satisfied with the 2022 edition.
